Reasons to Ride is proud to work with photographers such as Stephen Tripp

One of the most important components of a magazine, a website, or even social media is the photography and imagery of the pages or sites.  Visual images allow us to connect and experience – or re-experience in some cases – events, destinations, or even machines such as motorcycles that then ignite the fires within us.  We can feed a passion or craving that we have for something – such as riding, through a magazine in our hand or a website on our phone.  When you have a talented or experienced photographer you can feel the energy of the moment and get a taste of the adrenaline that the featured rider felt.  And when you have both – a veteran photographer with a gift for capturing the moment, the energy explodes off the page.  We are fortunate to collaborate with just such a photographer, Michigan native Stephen Tripp. StephenTripp.com

Stephen Tripp has a passion for motorsports that he captures and shares with the use of a camera.  He’s a nationally recognized photographer that covers everything from Supercross to truck racing, from Indy cars to flat track racing.  His real love, though, seems to be for the unofficial sport of Northern Michigan – ice racing!  Every season – when there’s ice – he shares the energy of the regional ice racing series with the world through his camera.  

It was through his coverage of northern ice racing that we first met Stephen and collaborated on several covers and features.  Over time we came to realize what a gift Stephen has and looked to him to capture more events, such as Daytona hooligan and supercross races, that we can then share with our readers and the world!  Stephen has an incredible ability to freeze a moment and frame it in just such a manner that he captures the speed of the bike, the excitement of being inches from the asphalt, or the spray of the dirt – all in a single moment and photo.  It’s a gift.

It’s through collaborate efforts like this that we are able to share the excitement of motorsports with our readers and create more racing fans – and possibly even inspire new racers!  And Stephen is able to both support the local racing series and share his art.

Reasons to Ride would welcome the chance to collaborate with other photographers that might be interested in helping us cover not only racing events but the local riding community as well.  If you consider your camera essential riding gear – even if it’s just the one on your phone – we’d love to hear from you.  Shoot us an email and let us know where you are and what you like to shoot.  Experience and technical training are certainly optional, as we are more concerned with responsible conduct and respect for both the community and other riders as well when we consider bringing someone onto the team and handing them a RtR Media Pass.   You don’t have to have Stephen’s technical expertise of racers to be an RtR Photographer and get featured in the magazine.  In many cases we are just as excited to share the smile of a pretty girl having fun at an event or the embrace of two brothers after a long ride.  Those are the moments that define our community and we want to share.
