CMA: Jumpin’ into June!
My goodness we are just rolling along! It’s June already and quite the month for celebrations and ceremonies! Graduations, weddings, birthday and anniversary parties and even more Bike Blessings!! I thought May was jammed packed with stuff but as I look at June…well hang on honey…we have a lot of roads to travel!
Ever wonder why the bike blessings started? Well let me tune you in…the first one was done in 1999 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. A Reverand Canon Thomas Miller wanted to bring bikers together for a spiritual moment before riding season began. It wasn’t just about safety; it was about community and respect for life on the road. It’s a time to join with others of like mind and heart to share a moment and prepare hearts for the season ahead. Community and Comradery. What better way can we think of to begin a season of what we enjoy as bikers, blowing the dust off after a hard day or during moments of our lives that can only be settled by the wind and prayer? Some of the best moments of life have been on a motorcycle.
So, what is the big deal then? Are the blessings just a ritual we go through, or could they be more than just a minute in a line of bikes? For us, it’s the opportunity to cover all bikers in prayer and give a bit of hope in the hearts of those we get the honor to pray with. Yes, honor. It is a great honor for us to be there when you need us. To be part of your season of joy and to share the smallest of moments for a season of happiness. We don’t take it lightly either. We want you to know that the Lord is with you wherever you go and in every situation you encounter. We want you to know that you can reach Him when you need Him. We want you to know that His love goes deeper than a prayer line of bikers on a spring day. We want you to know that He’s not just our co-pilot, but our pilot, leading us and guiding us through every curve, every turn, on every path we take. We want all to know He sees and even when we take a wrong turn and mess it up, He is there to pick us up and get us back on track. He’s awesome that way! And that is the big deal…relationship.
Relationships grow when we ride together. A group ride, a couple riding together, or just us in the peaceful evening air cruising and enjoying our time with Him, that is if we invite Him along. You’ve seen the cards that say, “He would have ridden a Harley or a motorcycle” right? Well, did you know that God has wheels?
Ezekiel 1:16 “The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four (living creatures) had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel”
Ezekiel 1:20 “Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.”
Ezekiel 3:13 “I also heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, and a great thunderous noise.”
There it is my friends…the Spirit of the Lord is in the wheels and the wind! So don’t leave home without Him! Invite Him along with you today. Give a little moment to ask for protection and guidance along the way and He will jump right on with you!
One last thing…if you missed any Bike Blessing event and you want to have that moment, contact any CMA member, or better yet, if you see us out and about in your area, come on over and let us know you want the blessing…again, we are always here when you need us!
Time to hit the road…KTRSD!
